The need for change

We are using fossil fuels inefficiently for the bulk of our energy.
We start with fossil fuels-bad enough.
Then when we turn this resource into usable forms (electricity/gasoline),we lose energy. We move it across the ocean,or through miles and miles of aluminum and copper to reach us.Then we....you get the idea.Inefficiency and waste at every step.

Both the energy source(fossil fuel) part of it, and the inefficiency part have huge implications.Especially because they're put together.
Here is a list (by no means comprehensive)of the factors pushing us away from this energy system, and toward the clean and efficient energy economy.
This is why we need to change-to make this transition.
This is what's wrong with our energy system.

The factors/reasons fall into 3 categories:
Environmental,"Social"and political,and Economic.

*Environmental problems include:
-Climate change
-Pollution (of air,water,ect..)
*Social/political problems include:
-Energy poverty (lack of energy)
-Petroleum=Power relationship
-Health (destroying quality of life)
*Economic problems include:
-Initial infrastructure cost and maintenance
-Rising cost of energy products/fuels
-True costs

Each one of these factors will be examined later.
I'll explain how our energy system is causing these problems, and how the new system solves them.
